Flyboarding in Cancun, Mexico

Flyboarding is an experience that every adventure lover must try! Invented in 2012 by Franky Zapata, flyboarding consists of a pair of boots attached to a board, which is connected to a wave runner by a hose. The propulsion from the wave runner is then forced through the hose which becomes a jet under your feet. The whole concept is ingenious and the ride is even more awesome!

Flyboarding is one of the newest activities in Cancun and Aquaworld is one of only a few operators that offer the experience. You can choose from a 15 or 30 minute time slot. The instructors are all very helpful and after a quick tutorial, you’ll be ready to fly!

There are two key points to remember when learning to flyboard: Always keep your legs straight and find your balance. I didn’t have a problem with the straight legs, but it did take me a few minutes to find my balance. (as you can see in the video below, lol…) But once I found balance and got used to the board, I was soaring above the water and even making some sharp turns. I know if I ever get the chance to try it again, I’ll pick up right where I left off and would even be excited to try some advanced tricks. Flyboarding is such a cool experience and nothing really compares to it. Flying through the air on a board, it’s like you’re the Green Goblin right out of the comic books!
